36.5 시리즈의 네 가지 영상작품은 오랫동안 아무도 살지 않는 빈집에서 남아있는 돌과 항아리, 철근등에 작가 자신의 체온을 전달하는 퍼포먼스를 행하고 그것을 열화상 카메라로 촬영한 작품이다.

집은 사람으로 숨을 쉰다. 들숨과 날숨처럼 사람이 산소가 되어 집의 안과 밖을 들고 난다. 사람이 집에서 더는 살지 않게 되면 집 또한 더는 숨을 쉬지 않게 된다. 빈집은 폐가가 되어 무너져 버리고 흩어져 버리게 된다. 마치 생명체의 죽음과도 같다.
사람이 사는 집은 무언가가 다르다. 그 무언가는 여러 이름으로 불린다. 분위기라는 사람도 있고 기운이라 부르는 사람도 있다. 따스함이라거나 혹은 숨결이라 부르는 사람도 있다. 이러한 이름들의 공통점은 그 무엇도 눈에 보이지 않는 어떤 것이라는 점이다. 그것은 아마도 그 집에서 살아가는 사람이 그 공간 속에 만들어 놓은 어떠한 질서로부터 느껴지는 에너지 이거나, 혹은 사람 자체에서 뿜어져 나오는 열과 같은 에너지일지도 모른다.
인간은 ‘체온’을 지닌다. 누구나 한 번쯤은 이마에 손을 올려 내 몸에 열이 얼마나 나는지 확인해본 경험이 있을 것이다. 한여름, 차가운 아이스크림을 먹고 탈이 난 배를 어루만져 주시던 할머니의 따스한 손의 느낌 또한 잊을 수가 없다. 생물에게 체온이 없다는 것은 죽은 것을 뜻하는 만큼 체온의 따스함은 생명력과 치유의 힘을 뜻하기도 한다. 할머니가 아픈 내 배를 둥글게 쓰다듬으며 ‘할매 손은 약손’ 이라 읊조리던 모습은 할머니의 손의 온기로 차가워진 내 배를 따뜻하게 해주는 물리적인 치료이면서 동시에 손녀에 대한 치유와 건강을 바라는 간절한 마음이 담긴 주술적 행위이기도 하다.
나는 빈집에서 나의 체온으로 이 공간이 간직한 이전의 흔적들을 공유하고 체온을 나눔으로 이 곳에 작은 생명력을 전하려 한다.

A house breathes through a person. Like inhaling and exhaling, a person, transformed into oxygen, goes in and out of a house. When a person no longer lives in a house, it loses its breath. An empty house deteriorates as a deserted house, and finally scatters. It is like the death of life.
A house in which people live is somehow different. That something is given various names; some call it atmosphere and others call it energy; some call it warmth and others call it breathes. These share the common ground of invisibility. It might be energy detected from some kind of order created by the dweller in the space, or like heat emitted from the person themself.
Humans have 'body temperature'. One must have, at least once, had the experience of placing their hand on their forehead to check if they are running a fever. I cannot forget the feeling of my grandmother's warm hand rubbing my tummy when I had a stomach-ache after having had a cold ice-cream in the middle of summer.
Not having a temperature in living creatures means that the body is dead, the warmth of the body temperature also means the power of life and healing. The scene of my grandmother stroking my sick belly, humming "my hands are comforting hands" was a physical therapy heating my cold tummy with the warmth of her hands, and, at the same time, it was a shamanic act carrying her earnest wish for her granddaughter's cure and health.
In this house, with my body temperature I attempt to share the past traces held in this space, and, by contributing my body temperature, I transmit vitality to this space.
